Waking up in Milan was the absolute best feeling ever. Milan was probably the closest city in all of Italy to Paris, and I fell in love with Paris when I was there in 2015, and I longed for a similar experience to Paris ever since I left. Today we were back to the media visit grind. I woke up a little later than I had hoped and missed breakfast but that was alright because I’m not huge on breakfast anyway.

Being back to media visits means back to public transportation but let me tell you the people in Milan have public transportation figured out and they need to give the folks in Rome some advice. Although the public transportation in Milan is better, it was still very crowded, and we squeezed as many of us as we could on the bus to our first media visit which was Burson-Marsteller. We all didn’t fit on the first bus, so we had to wait for the rest of the students.

Burson-Marsteller was a fascinating visit, and I quite enjoyed it. They showed us many of their case studies, but a favorite of mine was Campari. Campari is an alcoholic liquor that they let us try and let me tell you it was not good. It is meant to be mixed with something, and we all drank it straight. They showed us videos of all of the different bartenders that make special drinks with Campari, and finally, they showed a video starring Zoe Saldana about a mysterious bartender they called Red Hand. The video was very seductive and kept all of us on the edge of our seat the whole time, and even though that alcohol was not the best, they did a fantastic job creating a brand for it.

After our visit, they provided us with lunch, and we headed off to our next media visit, RAI Milan. RAI is a public broadcasting company of Italy. RAI Milan was very cool, and they showed us things that we wouldn’t usually get to see. They took us to the radio booth, and one of our students got to go live on air in Italy. They also took us to many of their television studios which were a dream come true to see for some of the broadcasting students. Even though broadcasting isn’t my major is was still very cool to look behind the scenes of an Italian broadcasting company.

After our visits, we went back to the hotel and enjoyed some time to relax. My roommates and I decided we were in desperate need of burgers, so we went to another Irish pub and got burgers (which were surprisingly delicious). We then made our way to another Irish pub and had some wine, and my friends ordered Campari drinks which weren’t that good in my opinion. Then we went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Gelato Update: I keep forgetting to get it.
