Good morning! Since today we have a completely free day, I thought I would write about my all time favorite part of Italy so far…dogs! I think dogs are the highlight of everyone’s day, and the amount that you see here is absolutely crazy!

Warning, there are a lot of dog pictures below!

What I have noticed though is that there is a trend of dogs that we see in every city. For example, Rome seemed to have smaller dogs rather than larger ones, like below:

Assisi is where I began to notice the bigger dogs like Australian Shepherds and German Shepherds.

Once we got into Florence, there was a sweet puppy with a small toy that he seemed to want to share with everyone around him! He couldn’t have been more than four pounds but thought his growl could scare away a pack of wolves.

While on a walking tour yesterday, there was another sweet little dog who was a perfect model! (Or he was just begging for his human’s food.)

And although I say it’s impossible to have a favorite dog, I think my favorite is a medium sized Australian Shepherd that I saw yesterday while walking to find lunch. As soon as I began to pet him, he rolled onto his back, ready for a tummy rub. Courtney began taking pictures once he jumped onto my lap. Definitely a heart stealer!

I think this is the biggest smile I have ever had on  my face! Although Italy is absolutely gorgeous, you can never pass up a dog when you see one! 🙂
