Florence, Italy

Today was our free day, and we spent most of it sleeping.

By the time we ventured outside, it was 1 p.m., and we were starving, so we headed to the nearest café. I didn’t plan on eating because I had shoved a meal replacement bar in my mouth minutes prior, but there was a $10 minimum with card, so I got a ham & cheese sandwich with my Americano.

Afterwards, we browsed some of the designer shops nearby. As you can imagine, everything was out of our budget, but since I love fashion, I enjoy just looking. I really wanted to go to the Gucci store, but the security guards were intimidating, and I knew they would stare at me the whole time.

Nothing was really my style until we went into the Miu Miu store. Everything was very reminiscent of the Japanese Lolita style, so I almost cried when I looked at th prices and realized that even the cheapest pieces were over $100. I’m a fan of blouses and dresses that have lace collars and gold/silver buttons; they remind me of poets in the 1800’s.

Before coming back to the hotel, we stopped by what has become our favorite café in Florence and ate some gelato (I got mango flavor again). It was a bit irritating this time around because the male employees were playing foosball loudly next to our table and singing along to the music. At that point, we were so exhausted from all our days of walking that we decided to just come back to the hotel.

Kristina & I decided to try out the sauna, and it’s singlehandedly the best part of our stay in Florence. I love being uncomfortably warm (well, it’s comfortable for me).

So jot that down.
