I can’t believe I have to leave Rome tomorrow, I feel like we just arrived. Although I am extremely excited to see the other cities on our itinerary, I will be sad to see this one go.

Rome is a lovely city, there’s no doubt about it. Although it can be loud and overwhelming sometimes, it is also filled with a passion and romance that is hard to describe exactly.

Our last morning in Rome we visited Enel, an international power company that is making strides when it comes to renewable energy. We spoke with their Head of Internal Media Ivano Fenoli about building a company culture, developing a brand character, and how to keep employees across the globe informed and engaged.

Enel has an internal media mix consisting of an intranet, e-channel (TV), email, e-radio, and vertical web platforms. All this to communicate the company news to their offices all across the world from Tel Aviv to Boston.

We were able to explore the TV and radio studios and record a short interview with their equipment, which was truly state of the art. My lovely classmate Kimmie interviewed me on air and it was definitely one of the most engaging visits we’ve been on yet. It was fun to pretend to be on TV for a minute. Maybe I should’ve majored in broadcasting…

After a quick lunch in Enel’s cafe (where I finally found some fruit,) we departed back to the hotel for the second part of our day. Emily, Carrie, and I wandered around Trastevere for awhile before departing for our pasta making class and dinner.

We made gnocchi and ravioli from scratch and got to eat it in Marlon Brando’s old apartment. It was really beautiful. Making pasta is truly an art form (one I’m not very good at) and it was fun to be able to have this experience with my friends.

Tomorrow we are off to Assisi and I am excited to see what the rest of this beautiful country has in store for us.

Farewell Rome.
