If you know me, then you know I want to work in fashion more than anything. Today we had our media visit at Hearst Publications. Hearst is home of some of the most famous fashion magazines including Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and Elle.

I pretty much freaked out the whole time I was there and wanted to ask so many questions. Pittsburgh isn’t the most fashion influential city, so I asked the fashion editor of Cosmopolitan what is the best way to find resources into this particular industry when you don’t have that many around you? To sum it up – I WILL move to New York City one day!

We were able to meet marketers, editors (fashion, health/beauty, lifestyle) and even the editor-in-chief of Cosmo.. How insane is that?! Im not sure if you have ever watched the movie “Confessions of a Shopaholic” but Francesca Delogu, the editor-in-chief, is pretty much the protagonist of that movie. Both of them started off as finance/accountant journalists both wanted to break out in fashion. I was swooning over her career while we stood in her office to have a small conversation. To be so influential and creative at the same time is very rare and she seemed like a one-of-a-kind type of person.

Hearst was filled with everything I have ever wanted. There were walls filled with photos taken by some of my favorite photographers, heaps and heaps of fashion books, magazines from all around the world and I even saw a closet filled with high-end designer bags. It truly was something you would see out of a movie. My friends and I couldn’t stop glancing at each other with he dumbest grins on our faces. We were all in such awe.

The visit for me was inspirational as a whole. I anticipated this media visit the whole trip and I would do it all over again if I could. Being able to see what you truly want to do in action gives you so much more motivation to achieve such goal. It was absolutely brilliant there.

I spent the rest of my afternoon near the duomo to catch up on shopping. I decided to stop at a vegan cafe with three of my friends to eat some necessary greens after being horribly sick the day before (I’m still pretty sick but I had to suck it up for fashion). It was incredibly good and refreshing. After we took to the streets to shop at different local stores around the area. It was up to us to find our way back to the hotel and it was one heck of an experience. From walking the complete opposite direction to chasing after a bus that had no bus driver in it to drive away, we made it 15 minutes before it was time to meet in our lobby for dinner.

We had our farewell dinner at a restaurant near our hotel to say our goodbyes to one another. It was a wonderful time with even more wonderful food. It was sad seeing all of this come to an end but it couldn’t of come together more perfectly.

Tomorrow we leave for the airport!
