This morning we had a very early wake-up call at 6:45 for our departure for Milan and we had yet another 3 1/2 hour bus ride which I slept the whole way. Then we arrived in Milan. We got tickets for the Duomo last minute, and when we got off of the bus, we met our tour guide Simon (he was my favorite so far). We waited in line and went through security and the guards we nice. Then we toured the church and admired the beauty, but I accidentally used flash in the church and thankfully I didn’t get yelled at by the security.
The church was beautiful, and the stained glass in each window was different which was unique. We had some free time for lunch, and our guide took us to an Italian “fast food” place with short lines that were amazing. It was sort of like a calzone with tomato and mozzarella. Then we went to this mall that was seven floors of designer items. My friends and I wandered through the store and fell in love with things that we’ll never be able to afford. I felt like Carrie Bradshaw trying not to spend money on Manolo’s because I have to pay for my rent. Then we had to be back to finish our walking tour of Milan.
Our tour guide walked us past the stock market in Milan and then by a middle finger statue that I thought was very interesting. Our tour guide then took us to a castle that was very Parisian and also had a mini Arc de Triomphe, and it was also a museum containing works from Leonardo Da Vinci and Michaelango which we did not get to see. Then we went back to the hotel and had some time to relax.
It was our tour guide, Matteo’s, last night with us because he has another tour starting in Barcelona. We met our new tour guide Serena who seems very entertaining, and I’m looking forward to getting to know her over the next few days in Milan.
Our dinner was exciting it was almost like an American meal. We had some pasta, and then we were presented with ketchup and mayo, it was very confusing. So for our second course, we were brought some french fries with exotic meat that looked like fish but was chicken, and it was surprisingly good. Then we headed back to the hotel, and we were ready for a good night’s sleep. Stay tuned for tomorrow as we continue with media visits with Burston-Marstellar and RAI Milan. Gelato Update: I didn’t get any today.
