So my last blog post ended at our hotel in Padua, and let me tell you what a night that was. I went to bed shortly after I had to shower in the sink. Right when I fell asleep, my roommate woke me up flailing and screaming in the bed. There was a spider that fell onto our bed, I killed it with toilet paper and went right back to sleep. Not long after, I woke up because of a screaming alarm all over our hotel, but I wasn’t concerned enough to get out of bed. The alarm went off again and didn’t stop that time so I got up and went into the hallway, no one knew what was going on so I just went back to sleep again.

My alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. because we had to leave for Milan by 7:30. I didn’t have much sleep on the bus either and I’m not sure why. We made it to Milan after three and a half hours and we met with our walking tour guide, Simon. He walked us through a lot of interesting parts of the city like the shopping center and past the museums. We went on a tour through the Duomo Milano, which was a huge gothic church. I didn’t expect it to be that large.

After the tour, we took a break for lunch and separated. A few others and I followed Simon to Luini, a fast passed restaurant for calzones. IT WAS SO GOOD. I got a ham and cheese calzone that was crunchy, warm and delicious. There was a lot of people coming up to ask us for money that got annoying. My calzone was so good that I went back to get a dessert calzone with strawberry and chocolate. It was also amazing.

We went through the seven-floor department store and everything was way too expensive. Then, Simon finished the tour and showed us as much of Milan as he could. There is a large middle finger sculpture that was depicting the country’s fascist past. We walked past more shops and got to the castle in Milan. I really liked how it was open to the public and the central park area. The mote that surrounded the castle wasn’t filled with water anymore, it was filled in and had cats living in it.

The bus took us to the hotel to check-in and I was so happy that I get to the room with Taylor, Megan, and Lindsey again! Matteo had to leave for Barcelona tonight so we met our new guide, Serena. After Matteo left for the airport, Serena took us to dinner where we had pasta with vodka sauce and fried chicken with french fries. I have to say that it wasn’t my favorite meal of the trip but I’m not complaining.

Tomorrow we are up bright and early to pick back up with our media visits. I can’t wait to get some sleep!

Luini’s ham and cheese. It was to die for.
