Today my roommates and I slept in a little later than planned and had to rush to get out of Florence. It was another 3 1/2 hour bus ride to Venice, and when we got off the bus, we had to run to meet our guide for the afternoon. Venice was stunning my mouth fell to the ground as soon as we saw it for the first time.

After we got to where we needed to be, we got a little free time for lunch, but we didn’t have very much time. So I just got a fruit cup which was so fresh and delicious, and then I had to pay to use the restrooms. After our free time, we met our guide and began walking around Venice.

I couldn’t believe how beautiful Venice was and all I could think about was how we didn’t have a lot of time here and the entire day just felt rushed. After we saw some of the culture and history we saw around the city it was time for what I was most excited about, and that was our gondola ride.

I was a little nervous at first getting on the gondola because it did not seem stable, but thankfully everything worked out.  I was also a little bit mad our gondola gondolier wasn’t serenading us. But there were plenty of other gondolier’s serenading us. After our ride, we got a little more free time in Venice, and I got some gelato (Gelato Update: Chocolate Chip again…). Then we had to sprint back to the train station to catch the train and when we finally got on we had to wait for about 40 minutes because there were protestors in the street and instead of the trains running them over they decided to stop the trains delaying everyone.

By the time we got back to the bus, everyone was exhausted, and I slept on the way to Padua, which is a little city outside of Venice that we stayed in for the night. Our dinner was at the cutest restaurant, and when we got there I had about four pieces of bread that filled me up, but we still had some pasta and pork which was very good. It is unfortunate that we didn’t get more time in Venice, but it’s such a touristy spot that it’s super expensive which is why we got so little time there but either way I’m still glad we got to go. See you all tomorrow as we depart for Milan.
