Well everyone, we’re in Florence!

It’s much cleaner than Rome, and the stores that I’ve seen so far are way out of my price range – you can tell it’s a vacation spot for all of the people that have way more money than they know what to do with.

That being said, I think I’m in love with it.

The dogs here are more varied than Rome or Assisi – a lot of bigger dogs and more breeds than I ever saw in any of our days in Rome.

Today was a nice introduction day to the city before our free day tomorrow.

We began with a walking tour with Matteo before meeting up with our tour guide to take us inside Accademia to see a bunch of Michelangelo’s artwork, including the original statue of David.

I think it’s amazing that it is still so pristine after centuries of wear and tourist pictures.

We also saw the Duomo, which is even more massive than I originally thought. I’m also having trouble grasping the fact that it took 140 YEARS to finish the entire church – and it’s not even the original facade.

We also walked to the Ponta Vecchia, the oldest bridge in Florence, which is now filled with small jewelry stores and links the two sides of Florence.

Our evening was spent at a cute little pizzeria close to the hostel (and more tiramisu!!!) before heading back to the hostel to grab our luggage and go to our rooms.

I’m hoping to get at least some sleep, but Matteo is taking a big group of us to Space Bar, the largest night club in Florence, before our free day tomorrow!

Talk to you tomorrow, ciao!

EDIT: Space Bar is amazing and huge, but very sweaty and they are actually closing tomorrow night for the summer because of how hot it gets in there. Also, it was an Avicii tribute night!
