Hello! Today was a very interesting day that I’m sure I could go on for hours about. But it feels like I don’t have the energy to do even that! Today tuckered me out so badly that I’m already in bed and it’s 9:45 (and I’m loving it).

This day started very early with meeting and going straight to a lecture at the Vatican Radio office! We had a great presentation done by a small group of people that help run Pope Francis’s social media accounts (I know!). They explained how it takes a whole team to write any post of his whether it’s on his Twitter account, or his Instagram account. They have multiple people to translate that message of the Pope on Twitter into 9 different languages for everyone to understand.

Next was a small lunch break where I had amazing lasagna at a quaint little restaurant near the Vatican. Afterwards we picked up speed again by going into the Vatican and exploring it all with our super sweet tour guide. The Sistine Chapel is just as beautiful as anyone imagines! I do have to say, the only downfall was the guards inside of the Chapel hurrying everyone along. I think the secret is you just have to tone out their voices for only a second while you appreciate the beauty!

Another small hiccup in the day was the constant rain and thunderstorms, but honestly, the sound of thunder made the experience that much more real. This may be an unpopular opinion, but it still hasn’t hit me that I’m in one of the most beautiful places in the world yet! So hearing the outside noises and the different weather makes me still so excited to be here.

Although we got a little lost coming back to the hotel with one of our tour guides, Andrea, I think it made it much more personal for us. Getting to know the people around us on the buses and our tour guides makes the experience really special for us. All in all, such a good day, but then again who could have a bad day in Rome?!

As usual, keep reading for more updates!
