Today we had a nice leisurely morning. There’s a grocery store next door to the hostel so I was able to get some fresh prosciutto, cheese and crackers to supplement the selection of pastries for breakfast. I also got my paprika Pringles (best ever!).

In the late morning we took a very vertical walk to get to American University of Rome. There were a lot of steps… Point Park was great training! The lecture was about Italian Media and had some interesting insights.

El Colesseo

Unfortunately we had to contend with some rain for the second part of our day at the Colosseum (El Colosseo). The visit was extra interesting thanks to our tour guide Katia. I have been there two previous times and I learned the most with her!

Foro Romano

The Roman Forum (Foro Romano) was fascinating. I’ve walked past it twice before but due to the (July) heat, I had never bothered to go in. Katia’s tour was really good and I learned a lot.

We got a chance to scope out the location for Thursday’s cooking class and dinner. It will be such a great experience. The facility is really unique.

Dinner was quite a hike but was good and especially interesting because we ran into the cousin of one of our students. He and his wife are living in Trastevere. We can’t even believe the crazy coincidence of him being at the table next to us!!

Dinner was good and I closed the evening with gelato at a store some of our students found. Dark chocolate this time —good, but not as good as the gelato on day #1!
