Seven hour overlay and a nine hour flight.

Am I excited? Yes. Am I tired? An even bigger yes.

It was a long journey to get to Rome, filled with many challenges like uncomfortable airplane seats, not being able to sleep, or for me personally, having my shoelace stuck in the moving walkway at the JFK airport. It almost ended badly with the crowd of people gasping at me as I fall over.

I should also mention I spilled curry all over my new pants and stared at the stain all day.

I may have started the trip on a bad start, but getting to Rome made everything disappear. Rome makes life feel timeless as you admire the buildings, new and old. Everything comes straight out of a movie scene, seeing people eat dinner outside while smoking cigarettes, the pastel colored buildings or people zooming by on mopeds. Needless to say, Rome is magical. There is a story being told everywhere you look. It is one of a kind.

The other great thing about Rome? The amount of historic locations they have. Just in the matter of a few hours, I was able to see the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peters basilica, Pantheon and much more.

Our class ended the day the best way possible – food. We were served pasta, salad, pork and tiramisu at the cutest little restaurant. Although the long walk to the restaurant killed many of us, (still haven’t slept from our long hours the day before) burning the calories we gained was probably beneficial.

Now here comes the second best part of the day – sleep. It is finally time to refresh myself and prepare for the next twelve days I will be spending in this beautiful country.
