Hey everyone! I’m Allison Schubert. I am a rising junior Broadcast Journalism major with a minor in public relations and advertising.

We can start with a little bit about me. I came to Point Park wanting to broadcast sports, and only sports. The passion for that is still there, but ever since starting, I have found a new ever-growing passion for news as well – which leads me to this International Media class.

In the current political climate of America, and the coverage that such climate gets from the various news mediums, I think it is so vital to take a look at how the media covers political topics in other countries.

I still have two more years though, so why this trip? Why Italy?

Well, I first fell in love with Italy in 8th grade, when I took my first Latin language class. We would talk about ancient Rome and mythology and how magical and ancient the city of Rome and Italy as a whole is. After my junior year (summer 2015), we traveled to Greece and Italy to check out all of what we had been learning.

Ever since that trip, I have longed to come back and explore even more of what the city has to offer. I found it even more intriguing since they are going through a bit of political turmoil themselves.

So, in a nutshell, that is a bit about me and why I chose to partake on this educational and cultural journey that is International Media.

Stay tuned for the many adventures (and MANY pictures) of my adventures in Italy.

Grazie!
