Rome:
According to legend, Rome was founded by the twins Romulus and Remus around 750 BC. The Eternal City, now the largest city in Italy, contains art and cultural sites that are known worldwide. During our stay in Italy, we will be visiting the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, the American University of Rome, Art Attack Advertising, la Repubblica, Enel, and more.
Assisi:
The town of Assisi is surrounded by sprawling hills, and contains many remnants of the medieval town it once was. Assisi is the birthplace of Saint Francis, the patron saint of nature and animals. Many people make pilgrimages to the Basilica of St. Francis or take time to explore the Rocca Maggiore castle. While in Assisi, we will take a guided walking tour of the town and we will get to visit the Basilica of St. Francis.
Florence:
The city of Florence is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, and is responsible for sparking the movement throughout Europe. The Medici family ruled Florence for generations, and used their enormous wealth and power to promote art. It was here that the Mona Lisa was painted, and that Michelangelo created his famous sculpture David. Today, the city of Florence holds an enormous collection of Renaissance art and architecture. During our stay we will be taking a walking tour of the city. We will also visit the Gallery of the Academy of Florence to see Michelangelo’s David. There will also be an optional trip to Pisa.
Venice:
Venice is famous for its winding waterways, gondola rides and architecture. Venice began as a group of different communities separated by waterways. Eventually bridges were built to connect these communities to one another to establish the city of Venice. During our time in Venice we will take a guided walking tour, which includes a gondola ride on the Grand Canal.
Milan:
Milan is widely regarded as the fashion capital of the world. It is home to a variety of high-end shops, and it is the commercial center of Italy. Milan also includes breathtaking artwork such as
the Duomo, the fourth largest cathedral in Europe, and The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. During our time in Milan we will get to go inside the Duomo and also visit Burson-Marsteller, Hearst Italia, and the Rai TV Production Center.
