For the majority of us, if not all of us, typed our first blog on about four hours of sleep, completely jet lagged and exhausted. When we woke up in the morning, people re-edited their blogs to make more sense. For me, I didn’t touch it. Why? It’s a perfect wordy visual on how delusional I was after getting four hours of sleep in a 38 hour period. And for the memories…. sometimes change isn’t good.
I was told to expect a breakfast that’s completely different from what we are used to so it came to no surprise to me that I downed three pastries and a coffee to start off my morning.
After a couple hours to recuperate from the jet lag, we had some time to relax in the morning before leaving for the American University of Rome. I was a student ambassador, so I lead questions along with Emily.
From there, we headed for the colosseum tour. It seems as if Pittsburgh’s weather followed us here as it poured down rain right as we entered. I ended up spending 5 Euro on a poncho and 5 Euro on a cheap umbrella (I had to protect the leather ok). The tour was still awesome and breathtaking even with the rain. It almost gave us the gruesome vibes people and animals were experiencing on stage.

After not having any time to stop for lunch, we were all starving. The hangry in us took over. Matteo recommended us to eat at a pizzaria called Pizzeria Ai Marmi. We had no idea where to go so we ended up taking the “scenic route” to get there. I got a mushroom pizza (pizza con funghi) and it was absolutely life changing. No much of a beer drinker, we blended in and drank the beer that was on just about everyone’s table: Birra Superiore Nastro Azzurro. I don’t drink beer but it was so good that I had two of them.
Completely full, we still went to get gelato (When in Rome…).
Going to bed in a food coma (abbiacco) is the best way to fall asleep.
