Today we traveled to Venice, which was much more difficult in comparison to our other bus trips. There was a good bit of traffic heading out of Florence, which delayed us quite a bit.

The trip to Venice was also different because we had to take a connecting train, as Venice is on an island. Upon arriving at the train station, I was so anxious to see Venice for the first time. Trust me, it was not a let down. I have heard many people say Venice is overrated. I just felt it was so beautiful.

The water was so blue, and there was history around every corner. I was surprised with how many modern shops are on the island as well. I saw Sephora, Lush and many others. Naturally I wanted to shop, but I can shop at those types of stores at home.

My favorite part of the trip to Venice was the gondola ride. I have to admit I was a little terrible for this, as I am not a fan of boats. I was the first to step into the gondola, and it shifted to the side. I felt sick to my stomach. As the other four girls came in, the boat became more balanced and more enjoyable to ride in. Our guy who was paddling the gondola was terrific. There were countless times when I thought we were going right for a wall, but we would only glide an inch away from it.

I could see some small fish in the water, as well as crabs. I also thought it was odd how I could see the bottom of the water. It looked as if the water was two feet deep. The walk back to the train station was upsetting, as I could spend days in Venice.

Our next and final stop is Milan. I have pretty much all of my souvenir shopping completed with the expedition of my dad. I did this on purpose as I know Milan is expensive. Fingers crossed my credit card does not take a beating here.
