Today we a had a free day in Florence. I was a little anxious for this day to come, as I am the only graduate student in the class. I do not know many students in this class. But during the duration of the trip, everyone has been wonderful to me and allowed me to tag along without any awkward feelings. I am very grateful for that.
Overall, I had a bad shopping bug today. We have not had a whole lot of time to spend money, and anyone who knows me well knows that I love spending money. A group of girls were going to a cute café for lunch. I tagged along, and I must say this has easily been one of the cutest cafés I have ever seen.
There were flowers and rustic beauty everywhere. I ordered a latté and a croque monsieur, which is a French breakfast sandwich that translates to crunchy man. Upon leaving the café, I checked out their desert case and was drooling over the fruit tarts (I came back later and bought one…).
We stopped into a few shops, and I found something great for my older sister. I ran into another group of girls who wanted to go purchase leather items. I had yet to buy a gift for my boyfriend, and I had an idea in mind. However, I will not discuss as I know he has been reading my blog.
Later we went out for dinner. One of Venice’s specialty is a two-pound steak. While I ordered the chickens, four girls shared the steak. It was huge, and I did have a taste. It was delicious!
Back at home, my dog had a vet appointment to get a new round of shots. When I first adopted Dexter, he weighed 16 pounds, which is pretty hefty for a chihuahua. Since we have had him, we have gotten him down to 12 pounds! He starting to look a lot less chunky and his energy is just thriving. My sister took him over to my parents house, as it is Mother’s Day.
From the messages I received, it seems like Dexter enjoyed himself. He played with my family’s tiny puppy, Piper. Dexter has met Piper several times, but he always ignored her. They sent me videos of the two running around and playing like goofballs. It was so heart warming to watch. As we start to near the end of the trip, I am very excited to get home to my puppy.
