It seems to be a repetitive problem in my travels, but saying goodbye to Venice and hello to Milan was a difficult task. However, I was ready to enter into our final destination of the trip.
The things I have heard about Milan before arriving there today was that it was very different compared to all of the cities in which we have been in. As we arrived and took the tour of the beautiful city, those things were right. Milan is a very modern, classy city compared to all of the other cities we have been in. There was also not near the amount of dramatic architecture as there was in the other cities as well. Although the Duomo was extremely beautiful and elegant, that was really the only building that truly stuck out to me.
Once we entered the castle, that was a whole other story. The architecture and the beauty of the castle stuck out like a sore thumb, just like the Duomo did. It seemed that those may have been the oldest buildings standing in the entire city. Overall, I was just surprised how modern Milan actually was, but it all made sense. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, the aura of the city helped to keep that understood.
One of the best foods I have ate on the entire trip alone was when we decided to grab lunch at Luini’s. It was ham and cheese surrounded by delicious fried dough. Although there were many pasta dishes in which I enjoyed on this trip, this sandwich was so unique and oh so very delicious.
Well, day one in Milan is done. Stay tuned for the last two days left of this amazing trip!
