We left Assisi for Florence this morning at 8:15. I wasn’t too thrilled because that meant that I had to wake up at 6:30. As soon as we got on the bus I was ready to take a nap. Matteo gave us fun facts about the lake that we passed and wars that have gone on. At the rest stop, I found the frozen coffee again which I was excited about because it had just the right amount of coconut, chocolate, and coffee.
The bus made it to Florence in the afternoon, but it was too early to check in so we left our luggage at the hotel and went on with our day. My group went to walk around Florence and then we got lunch at the food court, which was super busy. I decided that I didn’t want all that much to eat because we were going out for dinner. There were a lot of options but I got the fried rice ball with ham and cheese inside. It was kind of perfect.
After lunch, we went to a few shops and I got an idea of what shops I would like to go back to tomorrow. Megan and I went to get gelato because no one else wanted to. Today’s flavor was the usual, “caffe”. When we met with everyone we walked to the Michelangelo museum and spent some time looking at his sculptures. The Statue of David was a lot larger in person than I expected it to be. It was quite an experience being able to see it in person.
Our tour guide then took us on a well-paced tour around Florence. I had a lot of fun and got a lot of cool photos. She was very knowledgeable about everything and made sure that everyone was interested in the subject.
Dinner tonight was at an awesome pizza place and we had cheese pizza with tiramisu for dessert. I ate every last bit of it. It was my favorite pizza this far.
After we checked into our hotel, Matteo took us to a club called “Space”. I wasn’t too impressed with it but that might just be because I don’t like club scenes. I had a good night of just dancing and spending time with my friends. I broke my shoe on the dance floor and I wasn’t even dancing. I just stepped back and the piece of my flipflop broke off.
Still working on pronouncing “Firenze” with Nicole Pampena. I’m having a really hard time learning Italian.
