Ciao!
Today was the lightest day agenda-wise that we’ve had in Rome. We had an early start and a long wait for a bus before heading to yet another media visit with Enel, an Italian gas and electric company. How does this relate to the media or communications field you ask? Good question, honestly. Surprisingly, Enel’s internal communications department has facilities better than some established media companies.
We had the privilege of visiting and utilizing their television studio, where I got to interview my friend Emma Federkeil. While it surely wan’t up to Josh Croup standards, we had a good time.
We ended our time with lunch in the Enel cafeteria which was pretty delicious and cheap! I had a couple slices of ham and cheese pizza and an Americano. It was also 50 cents for an espresso!
After a short break, we prepared for a special cooking class at a restaurant called ‘That’s Amore’, located in the center of Rome. The class was called ‘Fabiolous Cooking’ and took place below the restaurant which is actually inside remodeled ruins of a roman church! I was on the video team for this trip, and shooting this class for a promotional video for the company was a large part of our responsibilities for the trip. We even got to go below the cooking area into the actual ancient ruins. It was awesome.
I think my favorite part might have been when the group had to stretch out the pasta noodles for the ravioli by hand.
Finally we got to enjoy the meal in their loft, in which the actor Marlon Brando once stayed! The dishes (ravioli, gnocchi, and panna cotta) were almost as delicious as the free and seemingly bottomless wine. We cheers to the end of our stay in Rome with a traditional Italian liquor, Limoncello. Luckily, one of my best friend (Kayla Novak) was on the video team with me, which made the experience less stressful. The video will be here soon!
