Finally we got to have some fruit at breakfast time; it was a much healthier option after all of the bread and pastries we’ve been having. After breakfast, we left for our last media visit in Rome. We visited Enel which is an Italian multinational manufacturer and distributor of electricity and gas, but we were visiting their media department. We were waiting for the tram as my dress kept flying up from the speed of the cars. Then we got on the tram and rode it for a long time. Some of us were exchanging car accident stories to make the time go faster. We made it to Enel at little later than expected because you know, public transportation in Rome is not the best. As we walked into their office it was very creative how it was set up. Their chairs were all different colors and there was also a spin chair that everyone took a turn in. It was a very cool workplace environment. They then took some student to broadcast live on their radio station and they took some of the broadcast students to record a segment on TV as well. I thought it was very cool that they provided those students with the opportunity and the people from Enel seemed very impressed. We also got lunch there as well, I had a sandwich that I’m still unsure what the contents were but I’ve learned in Rome that you don’t question you just eat. We left Enel and took the tram back to the hotel (which actually I found is a hostel, not a hotel). We were given free time in the afternoon but a lot of us were tired so we just decided to take a little nap before dinner.
Our dinner was on an island which is also the river it was in the middle of. Now it was time to make some pasta. We walked down into the basement of this restaurant that has pasta ingredients and aprons set on the table for us. The broadcasting students were already there and we prepared to film us. They then lead us into a room with a glass floor and that these ancient ruins under it (I don’t have a picture because the lights were glaring and it didn’t look very good). There were two tables and we each had a chef at the end of the table instructing us on what to do and I have to say we did pretty good because it was delicious. We also had to create a pasta line where we had to all shuffle around the room and stretch out the pasta so it could be rolled through the machine. After the pasta making, we made our way into an apartment that Marlon Brando used to stay in when he would be in Rome. After some wine, we got to eat our pasta and then we had an unknown dessert that was still very tasty. We ended the night with some Limoncello and it was truly the perfect way to end our last night in Rome. Gelato Update: I didn’t have gelato today, unfortunately. Stay tuned for tomorrow we head off to Assisi.
