I had a memorable day. Today, I had the pleasure to experience what work life is like at the La Repubblica newspaper. This was memorable because seeing their office gave me hope that I am going to find an awesome job. All of the journalists at this newspaper were so upbeat, and really seemed to be passionate about what they were doing.
Even though I am interested in pursuing a career in the field of journalism, I do not want to dedicate my whole blog to this, as I would rather discuss the amazing night I had. When we originally came back from our media visits, I had the goal to stay at the hotel, do some laundry, apply to a few jobs and go to bed early. However, my roommates convinced me to come out, and I did. They wanted to what the kept calling “The Pittsburgh Bar” or “The Steelers Bar.” I am not a huge yinzer, but I definitely wanted a drink and to just check it.
We took the Tram, which is like Italy’s version of the “T.” However, the Tram did not stop completely at the destination, so there was some walking involved. Once we exited the Tram, there was a monsoon in Rome. I could not believe how crazy it was raining. I was wearing flats, so I could feel my feet squishing with every step (YUCK!).
However, we continued for the search for this bar. We did not care the we were sopping wet. We finally found the bar, and the inside is incredible! I eventually learned that the bar was called La Botticella. It is like walking into a bar on the South Side.
On the walls are flags of different universities within the United States. I was thrilled when I saw the Slippery Rock University flag, as well as the Point Park University flag. The owner, Giovanni, was such a friendly guy. He recommended a wonderful place for dinner where I had divine lasagna. This is definitely one of those nights I will never forget!
