This morning we left early for our media visit at Arkage Artattack, an advertising agency in Rome. Claudio Ciatti, Frederico Giuntella, and Mario Feliziani spoke to us about their company and the different things that are involved in producing good content. Frederico focused on the technology and coding part of things. Mario, my personal favorite, is the creative director and talked about the planning of video production and coming up with their own original ideas. I liked how he seemed like he could talk for hours about something he is so passionate about. The commercials that he showed to us were extremely well done and very creative.
After the lecture, they treated us to coffee and snacks (this is where the “heart attack” begins). I was feeling a little tired at this point so, I ignored Mauro’s warning to only drink a half a cup of espresso and drank 2 full cups of espresso… already a bad idea. When we left I was feeling pretty good and happy about the day.
For lunch, I decided to have some coffee and biscotti gelato, that was all because I didn’t feel like spending money on food. We left for La Repubblica, one of Italy’s largest newspapers, and I began to crash. Raffaella Menichini, Sara Bertuccioli, and Natalie Rose talked to us about the newspapers website and social media efforts that were interesting. I really enjoyed listening to how they do things different than America but we still have a lot in common. We went on a tour of the building and it surprised me how laid back everyone was. The work environment seemed very welcoming.
I drank yet another full cup of espresso at La Repubblica, and I officially felt like I was dying. Currently, I am drinking a lot of water and waiting to go eat food to bring me back from this caffeine crash. When in Rome, I suggest listening to the Italians and do not drink more than what they tell you.
