When preparing for this day, I knew the day was going to be a long one. Today, we had two media visits. The first media visit was at Art Attack (an advertising agency) and the second media visit was at la Repubblica (Italy’s main newspaper). I was especially excited for today because of being able to visit Art Attack. Previously interning at an advertising agency in Pittsburgh called Tailored Marketing, Inc., I was interested to see how both would compare/contrast.
As we walked into Art Attack, I was immediately taken by the atmosphere. It was a very cute office space with a large front desk and offices/meeting spaces separated by glass. I thought the atmosphere gave off the vibe of working together was important, but having space to come up with separate ideas was also important to them. At the company I worked for, we all worked in the same space with no cubicle or wall separating us.
Once Claudio Ciatti and his employees started showing us the commercials they have produced for some of their big name clients, I was blown away. It was then that I realized how modern of an ad agency they were and how detail-oriented their work was. I was truly impressed with not only their work, but their message and thinking behind each video. It was also really interesting to find out what had gone on behind-the-scenes of these commercials and how they got children (especially) to say what they wanted to portray but not script it.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the way the agency advertised. As the speakers spoke, they mentioned how real and down-to-earth they tried to keep their work. I noticed that this was much different than Italian media in general.
