I was a tourist today, mom!
We started our day at the American University of Rome to talk about Italian Media. Let me tell you, its pretty awful. Between sexualizing women (constantly) and politicians being in complete control of whats produced, there is no real truth. To learn more about the sexualization of women in Italy, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JtyvOeMSHY
After we took off to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum to really fulfill our tourist needs. Growing up you always see these amazing photos but seeing it in person is a whole new experience. If you ever go, I recommend learning every little piece of information behind it, its a completely different perspective.
Not to be too harsh, but I had to chuckle when I saw people pose in front of the Colosseum arena, where many people and exotic animals died from forced battle. But with all honesty, no matter the reason it was built, it was amazing. The detail and architecture of the Colosseum had to be a life long journey for the people that built it. Between marble seats (that were stolen) and the backstage of the arena, so much hard work was put in.
I 100% recommend going to the Roman Forum. Once you walk through the entrance to the top of the hill, your eyes will be glued on the most beautiful view. I was in awe by the buildings overlapping each other, all in different styles. I felt like I was sent back in time and living a whole new life. “I want to live here”, I thought. It was stunning and I will remember it forever.
Now I want to take a moment to talk about my favorite thing- food. I had my first Italian breakfast and it was amazing. Tt was pretty much dessert for breakfast and it was also nice not having to drink watered-down coffee. Fantastic. I think I came to Italy for the food. Its fine.
