First day in Rome is checked off the list! It was for sure a blast, but before I tell you about all of the fun, let me tell you about all of the hours we have had to stay up and smiling. We caught our first flight on Saturday morning around 10:30. After arriving in New York, we had a seven hour layover, then caught an eight and a half overnight flight to Rome! After landing we got right onto a bus and began a great tour around Rome. Was the layover and long flight a little aggravating? Sure, but was it all worth the excitement of being in Italy? Most definitely!
Once we did a small bus tour, we got on our feet all throughout Rome and were able to see a bunch of small pizza shops, cute restaurants, and most importantly: gelato shops! We also had a great tour that led us to the Trevi Fountain. Here, it was exciting to see the famous landmark and it was obviously a staple that we had to throw a coin into the fountain. Loads of pictures were taken and it was our first way of finding out how to deal with the Italian public and how to keep an eye open for people picking your pockets, people trying to earn money just by taking a photo of you, and people selling things on the streets. Even though it’s a lot to keep your eyes open for, who would ever want to shut them when in Rome?!
It sounds like it can’t get too much better after the first day, but I’m willing to bet it does! Keep on reading if you want to hear more about such a fun trip or follow me on Instagram @lauradee3_
