We arrived today sometime before 10am (Italy time). Thankfully the flight was uneventful.
It was an easy day. We met Matteo, the best guide ever, and Andrea. They got us and all of our luggage to our bus. We took a nice tour of Rome narrated by Matteo.
We stopped at the Trevi Fountain and then headed towards the Pantheon for lunch. As is tradition, we tossed a coin
into the fountain (right hand over the left shoulder).
So far I am 2 for 2 with the fountain. I tossed one in in 2006 when I travelled here with my sister and parents. I returned in 2010 and tossed in another. I am now here in 2018… here’s hoping I make it back with Alexandra in another year or two!
I had some pizza on a street near the Pantheon fo lunch and, of course, my first gelato (dark chocolate & Rocher). It was amazing!!
We then went back to check in at our hostel (after waiting some time for the bus to find us again). The hostel is quite nice. After some downs time, we walked about 15 minutes to a group dinner.
The meal was amazing. I am not sure exactly what the third course was, some kind of beef with prosciutto on top and a sauce… but it was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten.
It was a good, but LONG… first day!
