Welcome

Ciao!

Welcome to the online home of the International Media class of 2018.

by: Beth Turnbull

For 11 years, School of Communication students have had the opportunity to travel abroad through the International Media class. Past trip destinations included England, Iceland, Ireland, Belgium and many others. This year, professors Helen Fallon and Robin Cecala will travel with 26 students throughout central and northern Italy from May 5-18.

The students will explore Rome, Assisi, Florence, Venice and Milan, touring noteworthy cultural destinations (like the Colosseum and the Statue of David) and visiting media outlets (from newspapers to public relations firms and the Vatican’s media operations).

Assisted by Cultural Connections and retired Point Park faculty member Jan Getz, this year the students will visit media outlets such as RAI, Hearst Italia, La Repubblica, and Burson-Marsteller.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allows upperclassmen and graduate students to experience new cultures and learn how the media operate outside of the United States.

Please visit the itinerary page to follow along with the group’s adventures each day. Be sure to read and share the students’ blogs and browse the students’ articles, photos, and videos as they are posted.

Grazie!
